This course is designed for civil engineers and designers who currently use OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for design and evaluation of highway or other corridor projects. It goes above and beyond the basic ORD course to enhance the students’ productivity and troubleshooting skills with the software in the topics listed below, with a primary focus on corridors and the creation of 3D models. This course is taught using KYTC standards and configuration.
This course focuses on utilizing some of the more advanced road design functions contained in ORD with an emphasis on modeling. Students will complete example design problems in the areas of: Creating advanced Templates and End Conditions, including: Display Rules, Null Points, Labels, Target options etc; Corridor Modeling including: Horizontal and Vertical Point Controls, Parametric Constraints, Target Aliasing and Clipping (using multiple corridors); Overlay tools including components for Overlays, Leveling and Milling; Modeling Entrances including: placing Civil Cells and using Linear Templates and Surface Templates.
Students should have a basic working knowledge of OpenRoads Designer.
